These Companies Test on Animals

A nice reference, I thought. You can always search by company and product at NAVS (National Anti-Vivisection Society) if you are unsure about something. I take the easy route and buy all my body care stuff at Whole Foods. No products sold in their Whole Body department have ever been tested on animals. And no, I don’t smell like patchouli. Once your body adjusts a bit, the natural alternatives are every bit as effective as their conventional chemical-laden counterparts. I actually think I have found superior products after experimenting a bit. What has been your experience while transitioning into cruelty-free cosmetics, deodorants, or whatever?

Healthy Cooking Class with Trey

Chef Trey at VegFest

For a lot of us, learning to eat healthy and/or vegan means learning to cook. And we all could use a few new recipes to
add to our repertoire. So when a chance to go to a free vegan cooking class comes up, you gotta be there. Whole Foods is all about healthy plant-based eating these days, so they are offering events every month at their stores to go along with their Health Starts Here program. Head over to the Cherry Creek store tomorrow for a cooking demo with P&A’s own Trey Rainosek.

Carrotmob 3: Vegan Grocery Shopping

It’s time for the third edition of Plants & Animals Denver’s monthly carrotmob to showcase vegan buying power…

Whole Foods Cherry Creek

This month we are doing our grocery shopping together at the store that has helped make Chomp possible: Whole Foods Market at Cherry Creek (2375 E. 1st ave., Denver). The store’s support has been pivotal in helping Plants & Animals Denver grow, and it is also a great resource for Denver vegans. So let’s get together and buy the stuff we need anyway at the place that has shown great commitment to the Denver veg community. The carrotmob will be meeting at the produce department at 1pm this Saturday, March 12th. And to prove we were there, let’s all agree to buy at least one specific product that any vegan could love…

I hope you’ll feel like picking up your usual staples and goodies, and we all know how easy it is to get carried away in the beautiful aisles of Whole Foods Market. But let’s make sure Whole Foods notices that a big mob of vegans came through. The easiest way to do that is for all of us to focus on a specific product. We talked it over at our volunteer meeting yesterday and decided we should all make sure to pick up a half-gallon of Earth Balance Original Soymilk. Read the rest of this entry →
