Neat Market Vendor List | February

February’s Neat Market is just a few days away now. So maybe we should tell you who will be there?

Our first market had 10 vendors. This time we are going for 18+. Most are local micro-businesses run by vegans. This is the focus of Neat Market: providing a venue for entrepreneurs to launch or grow their animal-friendly businesses. We’ll also have a sponsor table and space for other like-minded nonprofits and established businesses here and there. We are inspired by the localized economy promoted at other craft fairs and farmer’s markets, and see a lot of potential for developing a community of vegan small businesses. Just like the way bands build a music scene by going to each others’ shows, we hope that our vendors and market-goers will help us build a stronger vegan scene by supporting each other and collaborating to create a diverse and robust community. The possibilities are really exciting.

So without further ado, here’s the vendor list for the Februrary 19 Neat Market at The Other Side Arts (1644 Platte St). The Shop-Up will be open from 11am-3pm. We hope you can check it out!

Non-Food Vendors

And we might just have a few last-minute folks come through. Like last time, you’ll be able to get some rare vegan grocery goods from our P&A Mini-Mart; things like Teese, Butler Soy Curls, Tofurky Jerky, and more stuff not otherwise available in Denver. Come early, because this stuff flew off the shelves last month. Thanks again to Food Fight for making this possible. Some of our Chomp chefs will be offering their specialties, like Bobbie Jean’s savory handpies, Melanie’s potato salad, and Kayla’s sweet potato jerky. Consider bringing your tote bag because there will be plenty of handmade take-home items throughout the market.

Neat Market | February 19th

Neat Market Vegan Shop-Up returns! After the wild success of our first market last month, we knew we had to make it a monthly event. And we knew we had to give it room to breathe. That’s why we’re adding a bunch of new vendors and popping up in a bigger space this time: The Other Side Arts (1664 Platte St). Shop hours will be 11am-3pm on Sunday, February 19th.

Neat Market is presented by Plants & Animals Denver, Food Fight Vegan Grocery, and Earth Balance.

Vendors are being confirmed right now, so check back to see the February vendor list. We may have as many as 20 this time! In fact, we still have room for a couple more non-food vendors. If you are interested, keep reading! Otherwise, just make sure you are at TOSA on 2/19, snow or shine! Read the rest of this entry →

Neat Market Vendors and Products

Amazingly, our first ever Neat Market is coming together perfectly. All the pieces are falling into place, and we are getting a great response so far. Needless to say, we are getting pretty excited about Sunday. We have booked a great lineup of local vendors who will be pouring their hearts into their products the next couple days to be ready for 11:30am at Leon (1112 E. 17th Ave). Here’s a taste of what you’ll find at the January 15th Neat Market vegan shop-up… Read the rest of this entry →

Neat Market | A Vegan Pop-Up Shop

Denver doesn’t have an all-vegan grocery store. Not until this month, that is…

For one day in January you can shop at the first ever Neat Market, a vegan pop-up shop featuring food and crafts made by local artisans. Picture a mini-mart with vegan foods you can’t get anywhere else in Denver (soy curls, anyone?). Imagine a craft fair where every item for sale is made with zero animal products. Add some music, put it in a great location, and you’ve got Neat Market.

Neat Market will take place on Sunday, January 15th from 11:30am – 4pm at Gallery Leon (1112 E. 17th Ave.)

Anyone is welcome to attend the market. All items can be procured in exchange for a suggested donation to the vendor. You will find homemade take-home meals, hot cafe items, dry goods, pastries, snacks, wallets, bags, accessories, clothing, books, body care items, and more!

This month’s vendors include:

  • The Vegan Van
  • Cruelty-Free World
  • Beet Box
  • Black Black Coffee
  • Warriors of Rawness
  • OURS
  • Beans & Rice
  • Denver Seitan Co.
  • Yosoy Foods
  • Vegan Hostess
  • Trey Rainosek
  • Table of Elements
  • Fearless Bakery
  • I Dream of Buttercream

Presented by Plants & Animals Denver, and made possible with the support of Food Fight Vegan Grocery. Stay tuned for a list of items you can only get in Denver at Neat Market.

Don’t miss this chance to stock up on rare items, support local entrepreneurs, meet other vegans, try something new, and help us continue to build vegan community in Denver! With your help, we’ll make this a monthly event.

Carrotmob 5: True Love

It’s time for a new carrotmob! Join Plants & Animals Denver for a special ladies’ night at True Love Shoes & Accessories on Saturday, June 25th from 6-8pm. There will be free vegan appetizers (prepared by Chomp chefs), samples from Sweet Action Ice Cream, and complimentary pink champagne. Oh yeah, we also get an exclusive carrotmob discount: 15% off any single pair of shoes! True Love is located at 42 Broadway in Denver.

True Love is known for style and affordability. But not everybody knows that it is an entirely cruelty-free shop. They don’t need to brag about- they just do what they think is right. Don’t you think they deserve a reward for that? Thought so. So make sure to start your Saturday night with us at Denver’s only animal-friendly shoe boutique, pick up that pair of heels you’ve had your eye on, and enjoy some free food while you’re at it. Guys are invited too. You can always get something for your lady, or pick up a gift card to give for the next birthday you encounter. See you there!

Let us know you’re coming by RSVPing to our Facebook event. But not necessary- just come!

Carrotmob 3: Vegan Grocery Shopping

It’s time for the third edition of Plants & Animals Denver’s monthly carrotmob to showcase vegan buying power…

Whole Foods Cherry Creek

This month we are doing our grocery shopping together at the store that has helped make Chomp possible: Whole Foods Market at Cherry Creek (2375 E. 1st ave., Denver). The store’s support has been pivotal in helping Plants & Animals Denver grow, and it is also a great resource for Denver vegans. So let’s get together and buy the stuff we need anyway at the place that has shown great commitment to the Denver veg community. The carrotmob will be meeting at the produce department at 1pm this Saturday, March 12th. And to prove we were there, let’s all agree to buy at least one specific product that any vegan could love…

I hope you’ll feel like picking up your usual staples and goodies, and we all know how easy it is to get carried away in the beautiful aisles of Whole Foods Market. But let’s make sure Whole Foods notices that a big mob of vegans came through. The easiest way to do that is for all of us to focus on a specific product. We talked it over at our volunteer meeting yesterday and decided we should all make sure to pick up a half-gallon of Earth Balance Original Soymilk. Read the rest of this entry →
