Melanie Joy is coming this Saturday

Join Plants and Animals and the Iliff School of Theology in welcoming Melanie Joy to Denver this coming Saturday! She is the author of Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism and Strategic Action for Animals, and teaches psychology and sociology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. A longtime animal advocate, she will discuss carnism, the invisible system that shapes how we categorize non-human animals in categories of companion, consumable, or commodity.

Perhaps you want to comment on our Green Reads book club posts here and here, if you haven’t already? Her book is the current topic of conversation.

You should also respond to this Facebook event and spread the word to your fellow vegans, veg-curious non-vegans, animal lovers, coworkers, friends, et cetera. See you Saturday!

When: April 21. Talk is at 6 p.m. but come early for tasty vegan snacks by your favorite CHOMP! chefs
Where: Iliff Great Hall, 2201 S. University Blvd., Denver, CO 80210
Info/Contact: Free and open to the public. Parental/guardian discretion is advised for younger attendees. RSVP to Admissions & Student Services, iliff.ecologians@gmail.com or 303-765-3105.
