Denver’s New and Improved Municipal Animal Shelter
From the silly little word play that begins the official press release, “Denver’s pet population will soon get a new lease on life…” to the ribbon cutting ceremony planned on June 11, you can tell that city officials are eager and excited to unveil their new, state of the art animal shelter. And why shouldn’t they be? With this facility, Denver is moving past the outdated image many people have of a run down dog pound and showing it truly cares about animal welfare.
The new Denver Municipal Animal Shelter is more than twice the size of the old site, was designed with the comfort of our furry friends in mind every step of the way, and includes shelter space for urban wildlife. It’s truly a reflection of Denver residents’ care and concern for animals. And if I were thinking about getting a new pet any time soon, it would be the first place I’d look.
The big opening is set for June 11th and will feature prizes, reduced adoption fees and tours for the public. Go “like” their facebook page and check out some pictures of pets currently in need of a good home.
